Meso 0.2.1

Improved

  • Open app actions switch back: when the app is already in front, the same gesture, button or recipe hides it and returns to the app you were using.

Requires macOS 14 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

Meso 0.2.0

New

  • Welcome tour: try a few scene recipes as you set up, turn on the ones you like, and choose to open Meso at login.

Improved

  • Trackpad place gestures: the title bar, Dock and menu bar are drawn on your own desktop picture with the apps from your own Dock, and each gesture plays where it happens.
  • Scene Recipes: trackpad and keyboard recipes come first, the device tabs stay at the top while you scroll, the page responds faster, and each picture presses its control in time with the effect.
  • The sidebar keeps Cables folded, with a count, and shows a reader’s picture and a laptop badge on built-in devices.
  • Sending a folder of thousands of files starts sooner, and memory is given back after large transfers.

Fixed

  • Left half and right half didn’t move the window.

Requires macOS 14 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

New

  • Home: a page that greets you with your Mac and its devices, including the ones wired into its ports. The sidebar is flatter, and App Profiles and Quick Actions are now tabs of Scene Recipes.
  • AI: translate or polish selected text from a mouse button, shown in place, on a card or from the notch; polish what you just dictated; translate or copy the text in part of the screen; read text aloud. Pick a service for each job in Settings › AI, including free Microsoft and Google translation.
  • Scene Recipes for reading and writing with AI: translate, polish, talk then tidy up, and translate text on screen.
  • Window actions: close, full screen, cycle and unminimize windows, move a window to the display on any side, halves, quarters, thirds and almost maximize, then back to its size; quit, hide or hide other apps; new and close tab.
  • E-readers: readers that connect over USB show their battery and storage, and you can drag books onto their page to send them to the reader.
  • Trackpad corners for two and three fingers.
  • Place gestures: on a window’s title bar, a Dock icon or the empty menu bar, a trackpad gesture or a turn of the mouse wheel runs that place’s action.
  • Add Device pairs mice and keyboards with a Logitech Unifying receiver.

Improved

  • Computers find each other on networks that block discovery, and remember where they last met.
  • File transfers keep the Mac awake and pick up again right after sleep or a network change.
  • When a file can’t be saved, Meso says why and saves to Downloads instead. A file that changes while it’s being sent fails on its own and is named; the rest arrive.
  • Folders with thousands of small files send about nine times faster.
  • Receiving large files takes less memory, and less of it stays in use afterwards.
  • The Computers page says when the firewall stops other Macs from reaching this one.
  • The menu bar’s Files card keeps Recent folded until you open it.
  • Smooth scrolling feels like a trackpad, with momentum.
  • Mice and keyboards reconnect more reliably after sleep, re-pairing and unplugging.

Fixed

  • Transfers to a folder on an external drive or disk image were refused as out of space.
  • A computer that quit in the middle of sending could keep new transfers from it waiting for ten minutes.

Requires macOS 14 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

New

  • Computers: turn on “Find other computers” on each Mac running Meso, pair them with a six-digit code, and drag them into place the way they sit on your desk.
  • Push the pointer past the edge where another computer sits and your Logitech mouse switches over to it, with your keyboards following. Choose how: push past the edge, hold ⌃, or just touch it.
  • The clipboard moves with the mouse, or follows every copy if you prefer. Passwords copied from a password manager stay put.
  • Send files between your computers: drop them on a computer on the Computers page, on the Meso icon in the menu bar, or at the screen edge where that computer sits. Progress and received files show in the notch, transfers carry on after a network hiccup, and files arrive in Downloads. Files you copy in Finder can be pasted on the computer the mouse moves to.
  • Settings › Files: accept files from your computers without asking, or answer each one, and choose where they’re saved.
  • Scene Recipes: ready-made setups for each of your devices, each played as a short scene, including recipes that go into an app’s own settings. Save your own setup as a recipe from any device page, and switch your recipes on and off from the menu bar.
  • New actions: mute the microphone, turn displays off, lock the screen, move windows, click lock, and three- and four-finger pinches.
  • Keyboards: Caps Lock and modifier keys can do one thing when tapped and another when held, with a Hyper layer and switching input sources. Other makers’ Bluetooth keyboards show their battery.
  • Mouse: an action for each step of the thumb wheel, for each wheel step while a button is held, and for each gesture direction.
  • Trackpad edge sliders: an action for each step, and sliders for one app only.
  • Xiaomi Bluetooth Remote 2 and 2 Pro: their buttons, a page drawn true to size, and the microphone while the voice button is held.
  • On screen: device, battery, cable and drive events come out of the notch (or a glass strip at the top without one), and a gesture the pointer is sure of turns the pointer into a picture of what letting go will do.
  • App Profiles for websites: Meet, YouTube and Figma in the browser.

Improved

  • Add Device: one search, with the steps acted out as you go.
  • Haptic feedback has four strengths on every mouse that has it.
  • Every device starts folded in the menu bar.
  • Smooth scrolling is off for newly added mice; your current mice keep what you set.
  • Intel Macs show their battery and their marketing name.
  • The Accessibility switch stays visible while Meso waits behind System Settings.

Fixed

  • A crash with some Logi Bolt receivers.

Requires macOS 14 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

  • Siri Remote: use an Apple TV remote with your Mac (all three generations). Each button can do one thing when pressed, another when pressed twice and another when held, for every app or just one. Meso pairs the remote itself: hold its two pairing buttons near the Mac, with nothing to click in Bluetooth settings.
  • The remote’s touch surface moves the pointer and scrolls with two fingers; taps and swipes run actions. On the newer remotes, circling a finger around the clickpad’s edge scrolls, sets the volume or zooms. Hold the Siri button to talk to voice input apps that listen while fn is held.
  • Game controllers: Xbox, DualSense, DualShock 4, Switch Pro and Joy-Con pads get a page with a live button test and their battery. Map their buttons and sticks to actions; Meso stands aside while a game is in front.
  • Mouse buttons can do something else when pressed twice or held, and one button can switch the others to a second layer of actions while it’s held.
  • New actions for every device: open a link, type text, run a shell command, and for presenting a laser pointer, a spotlight and find-the-pointer.
  • Clean Mode holds back every key, click and touch for a minute, so you can wipe the keyboard and trackpad.
  • Usage Stats prints any day, week, month or year as a receipt out of the notch, in three layouts, to copy or save.
  • USB drives appear under Devices with a page of their own and a full-window Speed Test.
  • Thunderbolt ports show the link speed that was actually negotiated, and the cable page lists what the cable’s chip reports.
  • A notification when a charging device is full; low-battery notifications come at 20 % and 5 % for every device.
  • Settings history: Meso keeps a copy of your settings as you change them, and Settings › Data can restore any of them.
  • Settings › Updates has an update channel: Stable or Beta.
  • Meso runs on macOS 14 Sonoma.

Improved

  • A Studio Display on Thunderbolt reads as running at its best instead of blaming the cable, and Thunderbolt ports are called “Thunderbolt 1”, “Thunderbolt 2”….
  • A charger that keeps the cable to itself no longer makes the cable look unmarked.
  • A display’s own USB side shows as part of the display, receivers get their icon, and an empty hub says so.
  • The sidebar scrolls in a short window, with Meso kept at the bottom.

Requires macOS 14 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

  • The trackpad page is laid out the way your fingers move. Pick how many fingers at the top: the taps and presses are listed in the middle, and each swipe sits at its edge with an arrow pointing the way. The corners live under one finger, outlined on the trackpad itself.
  • Rest the pointer on a gesture and fingertips act it out on the trackpad. The gesture’s panel keeps showing it while you pick an action.
  • Every gesture shows what it runs as a button, or “+ Set up” when nothing is set yet.
  • The menu bar lists every device as a row that opens in place: mice, trackpads, every keyboard and This Mac, each with its own controls.
  • App Profiles and Quick Actions cover trackpads and keyboards too.
  • Usage Stats has cards for keyboards and the trackpad: your most pressed keys, remapped keys counted as Meso actions, and trackpad clicks.

Improved

  • Trackpad gestures and key remaps follow “Switch profiles with the frontmost app”, like the mouse.
  • The cable page draws the cable with its USB-C plugs and fills the window.
  • Panels no longer cast a shadow on what’s inside them, and This Mac’s port cards fade out of the way when a panel opens.
  • Renaming or changing a quick action updates the trackpad gestures that use it.

Requires macOS 15 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

Meso 0.1.45

New

  • A new first launch: Meso looks over your desk and draws what it finds around your Mac (displays, charger, drives, keyboard, trackpad and mouse), with what it can do for each, such as a cable that’s slowing a drive or the device that’s lowest on battery. Then the two permissions, then the app.
  • Trackpad edge sliders: slide one finger along an edge to change the volume, brightness or zoom, switch tabs or switch desktops, with a tick at every step. Set them up from the trackpad page.
  • Trackpad force clicks: press firmly with three or four fingers to run an action.
  • Usage Stats counts trackpad gestures too.

Improved

  • Allowing a permission is noticed right away, including when Meso was already in the list and you only turned its switch on.
  • Clearer, more consistent wording in every language.

Requires macOS 15 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

Meso 0.1.44

Improved

  • A new welcome on first launch: what Meso can do, then the two permissions it needs, then straight into the app. macOS no longer asks for Input Monitoring before Meso has said why.
  • Allowing a permission is easier: System Settings opens at the right list, with Meso’s icon beside it to drag in. This works everywhere Meso asks, not just on first launch.
  • Settings › Buttons shows Input Monitoring next to Accessibility, so you can see and change both in one place.

Requires macOS 15 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

  • This Mac has its own page under Devices: a drawing of the Mac with each port and what’s plugged into it, the charger, the battery and the displays. Click a port, the battery or a display for the details.
  • Cables: every cable with a chip is remembered. Name it and pick its colour, and see what it can carry (power, data, video), who made it, how often and how long it’s been used, and whether it has dropped out or hit overcurrent. Cables without a chip show while they’re plugged in.
  • Charging in plain words: running on the charger with the battery held near full, a cable rated below the charger, or slowing as the battery fills. A curve shows the power from the charger and what the Mac used over the last hour.
  • A notification when a plugged-in cable drops out or hits overcurrent. Turn it off in Settings › Battery.
  • Displays: whether each one runs at its best, and what holds it back (a hub keeping lanes for USB, a slow cable, or a setting). Change a display’s size from the Mac page. A USB-C monitor that also charges the Mac shows both.
  • Hubs and docks: devices are listed by what they’re plugged into, and Thunderbolt docks by name.
  • How each mouse, keyboard and receiver reaches the Mac, from its page: receiver, hub and port. Meso warns when a receiver shares a hub with a USB 3 device, which can disturb 2.4 GHz.
  • The menu bar shows this Mac and its ports.

Fixed

  • Keyboards with mouse keys (many QMK keyboards, such as the NuPhy Kick75) show up as keyboards, not mice.

Requires macOS 15 or later. Ports, cables and displays need a Mac with Apple silicon.

  • Keyboards in the sidebar. Each keyboard gets a page that draws it with your layout and lights up the keys as you press them.
  • Remap keys: any key, with or without fn, everywhere or only in one app. Caps Lock and the modifier keys can be remapped too (Caps Lock → Escape, for example). macOS itself does those, so they work in password fields as well.
  • Logitech keyboards: battery, backlight, the top row as media keys or F1–F12, Easy-Switch channels, and remappable special keys.
  • Keystroke stats for each keyboard, by hour and by key, on its page and in Usage Stats. Only counts are kept, never what you type. Turn it off in Settings › Usage Stats.
  • Trackpad holds: rest three or four fingers, or one finger in a top corner, and the action stays held until you lift. The new Voice input (hold fn) action works with input methods that listen while fn is held.
  • Usage Stats can show a month, a quarter, a year or any range you choose, with a heatmap of the year.
  • 2.4 GHz receivers from other brands show up under Devices and wait for their mouse or keyboard to be switched on.

Fixed

  • Meso could quit unexpectedly while recognising trackpad gestures.
  • After changing the language, Add Device and the trackpad page no longer mix two languages.

Requires macOS 15 or later.

New

  • Trackpad gestures per app, like the mouse’s buttons: add an app at the top right of the trackpad page and give it gestures of its own. They take over while that app is in front.
  • “N gestures set up” under the trackpad’s name lists every gesture, global and per app; click one to edit it.

Improved

  • The trackpad page is centred and quieter: the list beside it is gone, and the trackpad moves aside only while a gesture is being edited.
  • Drawing your fingers on the trackpad is now off by default. Turn it on with Show fingers in the bottom bar.

Requires macOS 15 or later.

  • Trackpad gestures. Open Trackpad in the sidebar and give Meso actions to three-, four- and five-finger taps, the four corners, hold-and-tap, three- and four-finger clicks, swipes and five-finger pinches. Gestures System Settings already uses are left to macOS and marked as such. A light haptic tap on the trackpad confirms each gesture, and taps while typing or with a palm resting are ignored.
  • The trackpad has its own page: drawn to scale, it shows your fingers live, and you can feel each of its haptic waveforms. The built-in trackpad shows your Mac’s picture; a Magic Trackpad shows its own, with its battery.
  • Usage Stats count the trackpad too, and each mouse on its own. Choose which devices to include from the menu at the top.
